I came to coach Jerry in April 2010 with a question. "Can you help me get fit for my trip to cancun??"
He said it's gona be tight - but yeah we can do it. My 1st day working out at the gym was a "DNF" (Did Not Finish), after those
results I was pretty pissed off. I have always been an athlete and believe in being 1st, so now I had the fuel.
I took that and worked out about 5 days a week both at the gym and at home. 2 weeks later I noticed my body was
getting accustomed to working out again. I felt stronger, healthier and faster. My wife says I have even stopped
snoring, which is 10 points for me right there.
I knew I was on the right track. I'm shedding pounds and starting to meet the goals I have set. CrossFit is like
no other gym that Ive been to. Instead of working out, listening to you ipod you have a trainer pushing you past
your limits you thought you had. It's a competitive family with a goal to be the best. In June coach gave me a
DVD of the CrossFit games, after seeing that I felt the fire. I have a new goal: to compete in next year's games!
I am so thankful for Coach Jerry and the other trainers for feeding this fire because this is what a gym is supposed
to be, a family with goals that's turned me into a true fire-breather...it feels freaking great. So this is my testimony of CrossFit.

Wow! Where do I start? I found CrossFit through a free "boot camp" that was being offered in my neighborhood. Little did I know that I was going to be able to completely transform my body. In the beginning, I was the most skeptical person. Being trained and certified by all the traditional methods we all know, I was hesitant to be totally open minded. From day one, I perceived myself as "in shape." Let's just say that it didn't even take all of day one to realize that I wasn't in the best shape I could be! Changes started happening within the first few weeks. My strength increased, my cardio respiratory stamina and endurance greatly improved - I suddenly realized that I was holding full conversations while running. My mile runs were getting faster and faster. I have a mild case of Scoliosis, and would endure pain each night after being on the go all day. After starting CrossFit, I no longer have back pain all because I strengthened my back by doing a regular routine of proper deadlifts, and back extensions just to name a few. I admit it was challenging. I would get nervous before I would go workout - but as soon as I was done, I felt like a freakin rockstar!! Each day made me want more! A year and a half ago I never would have imagined that I could be where I am today both physically and mentally. CrossFit has shown me that anything is possible! If you challenge yourself constantly, your learning and growth will never end.

I dropped in for a workout a while back, and I wanted to say thank
you. Your coaching staff was excellent, and your atmosphere was great.
I travel quite a bit and get to see some very good CrossFit gyms and
some not so good gyms. Yours is one that I would consider to be great,
and I would have no issue recommending your facility to others. I will
definitely be coming back to workout with you in the future.
Keep up the good work.

I have always enjoyed exercise - running, kickboxing, and boot camps primarily.
I have had some amazing workouts over the years with some incredible trainers.
About a year ago I started hearing about CrossFit, but was reluctant to jump into
it - not knowing if it was some type of passing fad for which I would regret investing
my time. My curiosity got the best of me, and I began my journey with CrossFit about
8 months ago. It has proven, by far, to be the BEST exercise choice I've EVER made.
CrossFit allows me to supplement and improve my running, especially with regards to power,
speed and endurance. I love to tell people about my 20 minute workouts and watch them
roll their eyes. I encourage them to take a glimpse of "Fight Gone Bad" or "Filthy Fifty"
on YouTube! The high level of intensity required for these workouts cannot be matched.
I love that there is clear accountability. All WOD's are timed and recorded, allowing
you to monitor your progress. You will always have a measure for which to set your
goals, and you are only competing against yourself.
All that being said, I think it is important to note these workouts can be done by everyone.
Each WOD can be scaled to increase or decrease the load and intensity, allowing people from
all walks of life to participate fully. I will not mislead anyone though, these workouts
are tough. They will tax you physically and emotionally - you will be put in your place.
They are not workouts for the weak of heart or for those who do not want to the invest
in a lifestyle change .. yes, that means eating properly ... not "diet" foods, but "real"
foods - check out the Paleo Diet for details!
I can honestly say this is the most comprehensive form of exercise I have ever experienced -
combining strict form with speed, strength and endurance. I see my personal progress in
the increased speed at which I'm completing workouts and impact on my running. It motivates
me to continue my 5 am workouts! CrossFit will ALWAYS remain in my exercise regimen.

I have been working out with County Line CrossFit since March of 2009. I have always
considered myself non-athletic until I began with Jerry. I have gained strength,
endurance and most of all self-confidence. I cannot say I love getting up at 4:30 AM,
but I can say that I do love the way I feel the rest of the day. I will have to admit,
I was skeptical about the style of the workouts. I had only done workouts that targeted
specific zones (ab workouts, legs, arms, etc.) of the body. These workouts target
just about everything even if you don't notice during the workout (you WILL feel them later).
I cannot imagine getting the same kind of fulfillment from any other workout.
Last April my husband signed me up for a 10K run (I had never even run a 5k). I did not train
other than the 6 weeks of CrossFit workouts. I planned on running the first half and
recording 5K time for Jerry. I am not claiming to have had a great time by any means
but I did finish it by running the entire thing. This year, I ran the same race and beat
my time by a couple of minutes. The catch is that I injured my knee at the 4 mile mark
and was still able to beat my time.
Thanks Jerry--for continuing to push me beyond what I think my limits are!!!!

Someone just recently asked me if I loved CrossFit immediately and here is what I told them.....
Did I love CrossFit immediately? Well, I can honestly say there were things I loved
and things I hated. For the first several weeks I was so nervous about going and not knowing
what to expect that at times I hardly slept the night before. I especially disliked the lifting.
I was not a lifter by any stretch of the imagination, but over time and determination I have
become more comfortable with it. CrossFit is crazy insane!! I am a pretty competitive person and
I love it because each time I do a WOD I am competing against myself. I can honestly say I have
become harder faster and stronger because of CrossFit. The strength I have gained has only made
me hungry for more! It's a weird sick obsession for me.
How does CrossFit compare to my previous exercise regimen? Before starting CrossFit
I had been running for over three years had done a few 5 and 10k's and also a half marathon.
I also participated in boot camps and had a basic gym membership. The biggest benefit to CrossFit
is the workouts are always guided by a certified CrossFit trainer. Coach Hobbs is always by our
side from beginning to end of every workout. He is an amazing motivator.

I found out about CrossFit through 3 years ago through a men's health magazine and thought it was something I wanted to try.
I did a few of the exercises in my own workout and wanted to look into being a coach. After finding out the price, I changed
my mind and just kept a few of the elements in my workout. In May of '09 I had to have ear surgery and was out of commission
for 2 weeks. A friend of mine had come to County Line CrossFit when it was still a garage gym and was approached about being
a coach. He said he couldn't, but knew someone who could and gave me the info to contact Jerry.
I got in touch with him and told him I had never done a "true CrossFit WOD" and wanted to give it a shot. After a 6
minute workout, I was hooked. Jerry asked me if I wanted to be a coach and I couldn't say "yes" quick enough! While waiting
to get my cert done, I would come in to do my workouts and intern with Jerry.
I am now Level 1 certified and am competing in Regionals for the CrossFit Games 2010 after placing 23rd in the Sectionals.
Jerry and CrossFit have changed every aspect of my life. No matter what your goals and ambitions, CrossFit has something for you!

I was first introduced to County Line CrossFit by my best friend and wife, Monica. The changes I saw in her certainly
convinced me that something good was going on where she was working out. I admit was very skeptical about CrossFit
and how it would fit into my regimen of training for triathlons. I kept asking "how could this really benefit me"
and my workouts and "how could I fit this in to my training...I'm a triathlete...what else do I need?"
I finally decided to give it a try and my first workout was
"fight gone bad". That workout left me sore for 4 days! After that I decided what doesn't kill me only makes me stronger.
I starting going about once to twice a week, but still running 4 days a week on my own and cycling 3 days a week.
Shortly thereafter I was injured because of all the running I was doing on my own. I could not run much (once a week) and
cycling was cut down a bit too. So I started to add more CrossFit and reduced my weekly runs and biking to accommodate for
this addition. Logic would say that since I cut down my running and cycling I would get slower and loose a ton of conditioning.
THIS DID NOT HAPPEN. I soon ran in several half marathons over a 10 week period and found my times to be just as
fast and set PRs on two courses. I now admit that CrossFit has DEFINITELY maintained my fitness and strengthened me in many ways.
You cannot discount something until you try it.
Try County Line...try CrossFit...you will not be disappointed, but addicted to something that will only make you healthier, stronger and ready to
get more out of life!

Just six months ago I had reached 59 years old and honestly confess I was in the worst shape of my life, and I was
at my highest weight. Over the years I had always stayed active, but my lower back was giving me so much trouble I could
not even walk for long, I even gave up golf. So my lifestyle became sedentary and my back got worse. Surgery seemed to be inevitable.
Jerry had started cross fit in his garage and being a neighbor I noticed the workouts people were doing. Even my wife and son
started working out with Jerry, but I was skeptical if I could make it through such strenuous workouts and was afraid of hurting
my back more. It was good that Jerry didn't give up on me. He started me out on six weeks of back strengthening exercises. Now only
five months later my back is strong and pain-free, plus I can do those strenuous workouts and lift up my grandson!

"I started CrossFit 10 weeks ago, and in that time I have experienced nothing short of dramatic results.
The increased work capacity I have gained in this short amount of time has been incredible, and I have seen the
results directly transfer over to my job. I am a firefighter/paramedic for the City of Dallas. Several weeks ago
we got a call for an unconscious person, and upon arrival we found our middle-aged female patient not breathing
and without a pulse.
We started CPR immediately, and my task for the call was chest compressions. In the past,
after 5 minutes of effective chest compressions I would find myself completely taxed, and in need of relief.
This was not the case at on this call. I continuously did effective chest compressions for 25 minutes, and as
we arrived at the hospital our patient's pulse and respirations miraculously returned. Those employed in the
medical field can attest to the fact that after being pulseless for 25 minutes, your chances of survival are
astronomically against you, and if a patient is revived after this amount of time the tragedy is this person
normally dies shortly thereafter or they cannot physically or mentally function properly. I am proud to say this
woman is alive and well, and has made a full recovery.
I am certain that this is just one of many more life-changing events that I am able to perform now that CrossFit
has entered into my physical and mental conditioning. In closing Coach Jerry Hobbs is the man, and anyone on the
fence about CrossFit needs to come by Countyline Fitness and give it a shot.
P.S. The 25 lb weight loss, and being able to see my stomach muscles for the first time in over a decade ain't bad either.

About eight months ago, Monica suckered me into trying this new work out program. Her pitch went something like this:
"I think you'll really like it. I worked-out last Saturday, and I'm still having trouble getting out of a chair!"
(This was the following Thursday!) What she was describing sounded fantastic. Constant movement and strength training
cleverly tucked between cardio within the work out - and the promise that I too would be able to do pull-ups! I was still
feeling my first CrossFit experience two days later and I was hooked! Here it was, the perfect combination of strength
training and cardio with the promise of never having to step foot on a treadmill again!
Eight months later, I am fifteen pounds lighter and moderately stronger. However, the true benefit of joining
County Line Fitness is that I have happened upon a fantastic community of people - as different as the days of the week
and always encouraging - the work out isn't done until the last person finishes. Truly outstanding!

Oh, where to start. I began my endeavor of CrossFit on May 8, 2009. I weighed in at 258 lbs, and I am 5'10". After a
couple of months watching the constant travel in and out of Jerry's garage, and listening to the very powerful voice in
the back of my head telling me don't even try, I decided to get off my dead ass and give it a whirl. Boy was I in for a treat.
In the previous year, I had gone through some very tough times medically. After being diagnosed with a fatty liver,
and some other unmentionables, I knew that I had to do something with myself other than go to the "Globo-gym" and run through
my usual chest and triceps, biceps and back, leg and abs routine. Monotonous shit like that was getting me nowhere in my
quest of GPP. I was strong as hell, but I had no fuel in the tank to keep me going. I saw that this CrossFit world was where
I needed to be.
When I started CrossFit in May, I had one thing in mind; get healthy for myself and my wife. I had just married in
January of 2009. Ashley and I wanted to start a family a.s.a.p. You can't raise a family if you can't take care of yourself.
I told Ashley that I was going to Jerry for help.
My first workout, I lasted for 2:07. I was shocked, embarrassed, and ready to come back for more. I couldn't do a
pull-up. I couldn't run a mile. As a matter of fact, I had not run a mile since I was a sophomore in high school. I could
not run 200 hundred meters without my lungs feeling like they were going to burn from the inside-out. I had improper form,
my back was weak, and I had no core stability. I had injuries in my knees, shoulder, and lower back. I was literally a wreck.
Months of rehabilitation and smart lifting and running techniques got my back and knees lined out. CrossFit's fully functional,
high intensity, constantly varied training regimen has led me to no back or knee pain. My core stability is back and stronger
than ever. I dead lifted 405 lbs repeatedly a few months ago. I accomplished doing over 100 pull-ups in one of our daily WOD's. I am stronger than I have ever been. I have completed over 10 - 5K's. I can run with stamina now. I am completing full prescribed weight workouts. My biggest personal feat was just one week before I had S.L.A.P. and connective tissue repair on my left shoulder. I completed my first muscle-up. I have never felt such personal motivation in my life. All of the hard work pays off, if you just keep pushing through.
I don't have any updated blood serum results from the doctors as of yet. But I can tell you that the Paleo diet and
getting off of my ass has probably put another twenty years onto my life span. My family has a history of men dying at a young
age. I made a promise to myself that I was going to do the right things to keep me out of that statistic.
I want to thank my mentor and close personal friend, Jerry Hobbs, for introducing me to CrossFit and the associated
Paleo lifestyle. It has changed my life for the better. So much that I went in as business partners with Jerry and County
Line Fitness. You are an inspiration to me, and a lot of other people in our Box. Keep up the great work.
Alissa J.
"Like many moms, I am out-of-shape. I have two young boys that keep me very busy.
During my pregnancies, I gained 50 and 65 pounds and struggled with losing those last 10 pounds.
I tried walking, pilates, and a little jogging here and there, but did not find my fitness level
increasing or my weight decreasing much.
I have been doing CrossFit for almost 2 months now, and have seen dramatic increases in my strength and endurance.
I am becoming leaner and am fitting into pants I haven't worn for years! I'm not going to lie and say CrossFit is easy, because it's not.
It takes commitment and hard work. But I don't have to do it on my own. Jerry pushes me to levels I didn't even know I could reach."
Britni R.
"CrossFit is a total package; it keeps your body from getting comfortable with one workout. This makes for a difficult (not impossible) but very rewarding experience. I highly recommend Jerry's CrossFit program to anyone, regardless of physical ability, he will scale down the workouts so that you have a platform to start and build from. You will be amazed at what you can do after a few months. I want to thank Jerry for helping and pushing me to get in great shape."
Meryal B.
"Within just a few weeks I was going further and doing more in a workout than I ever thought possible. It's like I have a new lease on life!"
Scott T.
"As an Occupational Therapist, it is important that I maintain a certain level of fitness in order to effectively assist my geriatric patients. Visits to the health club have led to disappointing results. However, in only two months, County Line Fitness has provided me with the results that I previously could never seem to attain. Following Coach Jerry's CrossFit program has helped me make drastic improvements in my strength, endurance and mental toughness. I am able to lift more weight, run longer distances and am beginning to feel better than I have in years. If you are determined to make improvements in your overall fitness, don't just make resolutions that will lead to disappointment. Give County Line Fitness a call. The results will speak for themselves!"
Stephanie S.
"Now that I have recovered enough to get in and out of a chair, when can I sign up to get my rear kicked again?."
